Did you know that harvest festivals and thanksgiving celebrations were held by the ancient Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, Chinese, and Egyptians? And, just like the Pilgrims gave thanks for a bountiful harvest in the New World around 1621, Bette and her Team will be continuing this ancient tradition by celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends.
Since the first Thanksgiving Proclamation was made in 1675, Americans have traditionally taken the 4th Thursday of each November as a holiday. Our custom is to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. But there are others not so fortunate and community service in your own backyard is just as important on Thanksgiving. We boomers, known as the give back generation, can volunteer to distribute food at the local food bank, homeless shelter, senior center, church and/or visit a lonely person at an assisted living center, hospital or anywhere there is a need. Enlist the family’s help, and make this part of your family tradition, as well.
We wish you all a joyous Thanksgiving!
Bette and Team
