How do you transcend one of life’s painful journeys… the end-of-life passage for a parent or another loved one? The inevitability of life that is death?

Thankfully, our generation has access to endless information not only from family, friends and counselors, but also from the internet. End-of- life care resources for professionals, patients and family alike are just a mouse-click away. Hospice is not a place, but a concept of care; the word comes from the Latin “hospitium” meaning guesthouse. When a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments, hospice care can improve the quality of a patient’s last days by offering comfort and dignity, often in their own home. Hospice addresses the emotional, social and spiritual impact of dying not only on the patient, but also family and friends. There are bereavement and counseling services available before and after a patient’s death. From the original St. Christopher’s Hospice in England to the first hospice established in the U.S., how fortunate we are to have the “hospitium” for this passage to death.

We believe this website can make all the difference as you move along this road, either as a provider, patient or caregiver.
