Let them eat cake and decorate it too!

Chef Gayle “Gigi” Gaggero, envisioned an academic learning platform for children in the local community. Utilizing her entrepreneurial drive, business skills and expertise as an acclaimed chef, writer, consultant, and mother of two, she co-founded Kids Culinary Adventures with her precocious daughters, Gabie and Dani Gaggero. The dream was realized to become the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier professional cooking school for children, teens, and adults. Chef Gayle’s impressive credentials include the launch of famed Le Cordon Bleu’s Hospitality Management Program at the California Culinary Academy. She has been featured on Radio Disney, local television programs and is a featured writer for Parent Magazine’s “Family Kitchen.”

KCA’s website offers cooking classes, year round cooking camps, special events and birthday parties. Classes for budding culinarians start for children as young as three and can be done in groups or individually. Classes can be custom designed, as well. Cooking camps feature every theme imaginable and boomer kids and grandkids are sure to love the “Camp Culinary White House” and “Camp Green Eggs and Ham.” The 4-day “Camp Butter Sugar Flour” is the perfect boomer family holiday getaway. Camps mix in education, crafts, and teamwork while fine-tuning children’s culinary skills. Non-academic themed parties are great for special occasions. Parent Couple/Team Style Parties where each team or couple creates recipes with professional chefs will leave you with memories to enjoy for a lifetime.

For those outside the Bay Area, another great culinary resource is The Culinary Institute of America www.ciachef.edu, which has set the standard for excellence in culinary education for 60 years with campuses in New York, California, and Texas. The Culinary Institute of America Kids www.ciakids.com allows kids to choose their experience level and test necessary math and writing skills. Kids will take home recipes from around the world that they can share with their parents. The CIAK is a great resource for teachers and parents as well.
