By now, everyone knows that obesity is a contributor to a shortened lifespan. We previously talked about how obesity has reached epidemic proportions and the CDC state-based programs in place to address this alarming problem. Now, another USDA nationwide campaign called Apps for Healthy Kids is underway to encourage children directly or through their parents to make more nutritious food choices and be more physically active.


An NPR article recently featured an innovative ongoing school program cleverly camouflaging healthy ingredients to entice kids to make healthier food choices. Parents also can use this same psychology to nudge their kids toward eating wholesome foods.
