www.alz.org/safetycenter – Comfort Zone
Comfort Zone powered by Omnilink is one of two programs offered by The Alzheimer’s Association to help keep seniors safe, active and independent as long as possible; and give family/caregivers peace of mind.
Comfort Zone is a web-based GPS tracking system for memory-challenged seniors who wander and may become lost. In the early stages of Alzheimer’s or dementia, this device can be placed in a purse, pocket or even a car to track your loved one; in later stages as the disease progresses or as memory loss becomes more pronounced, the device can be converted to a bracelet for tracking while walking about.
Alerts are sent to family/caregivers via computer or text messaging. Caregivers set a pre-approved boundary or safe zone; if your senior exits that safe zone an alert is activated, as well as when your senior re-enters the safe zone. Zones can be changed as needed. An alert is also sent when the battery is low and when the connection is lost. This system can be paired with a variety of devices and plans, and if you aren’t able to access the internet, there is a 24-hour toll-free call center to help you.
All Comfort Zone plans include the MedicAlert + Safe Return service; the 24-hour emergency response service providing an ID bracelet or pendant inscribed with your loved one’s vital health information, 24-hour family notification service during the emergency, and the 24-hour toll-free number to call when emergency responders locate your senior and then facilitate your loved one’s return.
