What is it about June that catches us up in that June-spoon-bythelightofthesilverymoon-sentiment? What better way to escape from the humdrum and spark romance than taking an intimate break.
How about some “perfect respite on the quiet side” at our recently reviewed Farm House Inn in the California wine country where the wines are sublime. Another getaway we like is the Jalousie Plantation. Their world-class Rainforest Spa is perfect for igniting baby boomer passions. Of course, Bali surpasses for exotic romance. Book a dinner for two at the Bulgari Bali Hotel’s Lower Pool Cliff. The waterfall backdrop and a dramatic sunset, paired with the luscious menu prepared by the award-winning Culinary Team is tops for lovers and gourmands.
We’re devoted to the spa culture for stimulating all the senses like Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa, Cook Islands and Huvafenfushi, all mentioned on our Top 20 List of Romantic Getaways. Also on that list is the Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort where one of our team members enjoyed an eco-adventure a few year ago. She said, “the setting was idyllic, the food fantastic, the pampering perfect, and the staff were absolutely amazing – they know service!”
Another getaway spot we’ve personally experienced is New Zealand’s Huka Lodge. We dined in the trophy room and the wine cellar, only missing the recommended table for 2 for a romantic dinner on the terrace with river views downstream towards the Huka Falls. The fishing was spectacular and as advertised! Also, on our list of New Zealand favorites for those discerning baby boomer outdoor types is Poronui, an extraordinary place quite off the beaten path.
