Play Ball!

In operation for 27 years, The Dusty Baker International Baseball Academy, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization was founded by Johnnie B. “Dusty” Baker. His mission is to develop skills in our youth that promote dedication and respect for the game of baseball. His academy instills life-long lessons beneficial to building strong character and integrity – all key to achieving personal goals in the areas of academics, citizenship, and athleticism. The camp achieves this through their core principles of developing self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-discipline. Dusty Baker spent 16 seasons as a professional baseball player with Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland. He went to three World Series with the Dodgers and in 1981 they won the World Championship against the New York Yankees. As the current manager of the Cincinnati Reds, Baker is celebrating his 17th season as a Major League Baseball manager. He has been honored as the National League “Manager of the Year” three times. We tip our caps!

Baby boomer kids and grandkids will enjoy Major League instruction and reap the benefits of a talented, dedicated and carefully selected staff,  twelve of whom are former Major League players, and all highly skilled at imparting their knowledge and skills. High school and junior college players receive maximum exposure to college coaches and recruiters they might not otherwise have. Students/Players have the choice of a 2-day option spending Thursday working with staff and coaches, and Friday participating in front of college coaches and recruiters. The 1- week (M-F) option pairs you with the professional coaching staff on fundamentals at your primary defensive position, as well as pitching and hitting, and culminating in enhancement and development of proper balance, timing, and bat speed. Players are evaluated by the coaches in the six key areas of Attitude, Running, Throwing, Catching the Ball, Hitting, Hitting with Power, and Grade Point Average. Camp instruction and training is Monday through Thursday and activities include group, team and individual training. Picture day is Monday, there are nightly lectures and Thursday evening the awards ceremony is held including the coveted The Dusty Baker Cup for students with a minimum GPA of 3.75. Friday is your day to shine as you showcase your skills in front of college coaches and recruiters!
