Cultural and culinary excellence!
Epicurean Ways was founded by Jane Gregg, after spending nearly two decades living and traveling in Spain. Gregg studied Spanish literature in the U.S. and at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, and worked as a Spanish professor and translator. Her interest in Spanish cuisines led to her founding of Epicurean Ways.
Gregg and her staff support sustainable travel by working with local providers and producers of food, wine, and artisanal products. In collaboration with guides and chefs of Spain, small, intimate trips are designed. On offer are cultural and historic walking tours, olive oil mills tours, winery visits and tastings, cooking classes and demonstrations, tapas tours, and market visits with lots of free time to explore. Baby boomers and their families can choose from the fabulously exotic Spanish destinations of Andalucía, Catalonia, Extremadura, Madrid, Rioja and Basque country, and Valencia-Alicante.
Custom trips allow combined itineraries that incorporate other regions and activities. Private trips are designed solely for your family or group. Food and wine specialist guides will have you enjoying sherry bodegas and vineyards and tapas bars in Andalucía. Feast on cutting-edge cuisine and sip wine with the winemakers in Barcelona and Priorat. Nibble on artisanal cheese and Iberian ham in Extremadura. Take a journey to the Basque country and San Sebastián for cooking classes with Spanish chefs and wine and architecture tours. Madrid offers stunning art museums and strolls around the city enjoying traditional and avant-garde tapas bars, and cafes with a private gastronomy specialist. Journey to the birthplace of paella in Valencia-Alicante and discover the land of 1000 rice dishes!
Traditional Spanish cooking with techniques and recipes going back to Roman, Moorish and medieval Spain can be learned in private cooking classes with Spanish chefs who custom design the class to your preference. You’ll go to market with the chef and gather the ingredients needed to prepare an authentic three-course meal like Marmitako (potato and tuna stew) or raspberry gazpacho with prawns. Yummy! Accommodations include select boutique and luxury hotels in each region with high standards of comfort, charm and service.
We love this website that showcases Spanish culinary excellence and the culinary diversity of the country. We believe you will as well.
