American Made, Naturally!

Located in Middlebury, VT, Maple Landmark was founded by Clarkson University graduate Mike Rainville. Rainville combines Vermont’s long history in wood products with local resources to produce top quality, award-winning handcrafted heavy pine and hardwood maple toys and gifts. He began woodworking as a hobby in the 1970s, and in 1979, local craft fairs were providing income and experience. In 1984, he constructed a woodshop for his now full-time business. In 1987, he bought the Troll’s Toy Workshop adding new products to his company based on the alphabet including letter cars, blocks, and signage letters. He continued to expand the product line with trivets, ornaments, and Nametrains and moved the business from the mountains to the Middlebury Valley in 1996. Laser engraving and pad printing were next to be added, and in 2001, Montgomery Schoolhouse joined the Maple Landmark family. Maple Landmark follows the American standards of product safety, employee safety, and environmental protection.

With products currently being sold in over 2200 gift shops and toy stores throughout the country and abroad, baby boomers and their families will appreciate the fabulous selection of time-tested handcrafted wooden toys for kids that provide hands-on learning and exploration. We especially love the Schoolhouse Naturals line of toys crafted from locally, sustainably-harvested hardwood maple. They have no paints or finish coatings and are sanded smooth as silk for the little ones. We also love the NameTrains Wooden Railway System line which makes for a fabulously unique personalized gift opportunity.

Individual products we find irresistible are Junior, Advanced, and Master Builder Blocks crafted from hardwood maple. Kids will spend hours creating, designing, and stacking uniformly built architecture. Storage box is included. The award winning Rocker-Feller Rocking Horse for little cowboys and cowgirls is made from responsibly-harvested solid pine and features laser-engraved detailing and a non-toxic finish. Giddy-up! The Memory Tiles, Maisy game is adapted from the Lucy Cousins artwork. Kids will test memory and matching skills while having fun with the ever popular Maisy and her friends. The pine Train Whistle, Standard Blast Chart teaches budding engineers what the train whistle toots and blasts mean from a chart engraved on the side of the whistle. All aboard!
