Our East Coast friends got a rather early taste of holiday time…at least the chilly, snowy part. Christmas really is right around the corner and that means – let’s go shopping! Last year we talked about civilized shopping online, avoiding the crowds at the mall and completely ignoring Black Friday. Our passion is identifying the best-of-the-best resources for baby boomers, their kids, their parents and grandparents and we’re pleased that more companies realize that sustainability is good business. That makes a plethora of environmental choices to keep your shopping list green and those Christmas stockings full.
We firmly believe parents should start the little ones green. Gift mothers-to-be and newborns anything Anne Geddes, always a surefire bet. In our Progeny Cool Stuff section, we love the softness of organic clothing and you’ll find lots of options there. Even kids toys should be green like Green Toys and we’ve provided others from companies that are sustainable.
Don’t forget the active boomer kids on your holiday list. Gift fun. Our Progeny Experiences that Rock section features more active resources that could have them ditch their iPods and iPads – at least temporarily! We also like the idea for gifting fitness to those baby boomers who embrace exercise as the cornerstone of well-being. We’ve reviewed some great books and resources in our Vitality section that make for easy shopping. There are also resources for the mildly-active outdoor enthusiasts on your list like Virtual Active Fitness. See our full reviews on these (and more to come) in the Boomer Adventure and Lifestyle sections. Gifts of excitement or experience make that “hard to buy for” person extinct.
Think about gifting your golden agers with the plentiful concierge services, gadgets and gizmos for aging well and safely that all our loved ones deserve. You’ll find these great resources in our Parents section.
Lastly, always at the top of our baby boomer gift giving list is donating to a favorite charity, which contributes to our well-being – living well by doing good. TOMS remains at the top of our favorites for ethical fashion but there are many others throughout our website, as well. We especially like the idea of transforming gift-getting events into gift-giving opportunities using a pay-it-forward model. Charitable gifting simply brings out your brilliance. These myriad online websites should make shopping this year a snap, and you can shop on our quick and easy Amazon link just a mouse click away.
